I am active in the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (Technisches Hilfswerk, THW), the German federal civil defense and disaster relief agency. The THW is entirely volunteer-based. I am currently a platoon leader (Truppführer) in a Fachgruppe Ortung, which is responsible for locating missing persons especially in collapsed structure.

As a student employee, I was hired to facilitate digalization of paper-based patient documentations, but I have made meaningful improvements to the overall digitalization workflow in the UKSH, working towards the end goal of eliminating paper-based processes in the entire hospital. I have also gained lots of meaningful insight into all other areas of the hospital IT landscape. The employment was at the intersection of my studies and my personal interests, and I have greatly enjoyed my time with the company.
